IELTS Speaking Practice Test 7 · Part 1

Part 1: questions about you

4 to 5 minutes.

  • Let's talk about being on time. Are you usually on time?

  • How do you feel when other people are late?

  • How do you make sure you don't arrive late?

  • Is being on time more important in some situations than in others?

  • Now let's talk about plants. Do you keep any plants in your home?

  • Are there many trees in your neighbourhood?

  • Would you like to have a garden one day?

  • Let's move on to talk about the night sky. Is it easy to see the stars where you live?

  • Have you ever looked through a telescope?

  • What's the most beautiful sky you've ever seen?

How to answer

  • Answer in two or three sentences: your answer, a reason and an example.
  • Speak naturally. Short answers like “Yes” are too short.

IELTS Speaking Practice Test 7 · Part 2

Part 2: talk about a topic

1 minute to prepare, then talk for 1 to 2 minutes.

Describe a building that you think is attractive.

You should say:

  • where it is
  • what it looks like
  • what it is used for

and and explain why you find it attractive.

Then the examiner may ask:

  • Have you ever been inside it?

How to answer

  • Use the minute to write key words for each point, not full sentences.
  • Talk for the full two minutes. If you stop early, add a story or a feeling.

IELTS Speaking Practice Test 7 · Part 3

Part 3: a discussion

4 to 5 minutes.

  • Let's consider first of all old buildings. Is it important to protect old buildings, even when they are expensive to repair?

  • Why do so many new buildings in different cities look alike?

  • Who should have the most say in how a city looks: architects, governments or local residents?

  • Now let's talk about buildings in cities. Why do tourists like to visit famous buildings?

  • Do tall buildings make cities better or worse places to live?

  • What kinds of buildings do you think cities will need more of in the future?

How to answer

  • Give your view, say why, and give an example.
  • Talk about people in general, not only about yourself.
