Do any colours have a special meaning in your culture?
Let's move on to talk about sport. Do you play any sports?

How to answer
- Answer in two or three sentences: your answer, a reason and an example.
- Speak naturally. Short answers like “Yes” are too short.
IELTS Speaking Practice Test 5 · Part 2
Part 2: talk about a topic
1 minute to prepare, then talk for 1 to 2 minutes.
Describe something you bought that you were very pleased with.
You should say:
- what it was
- where you bought it
- how you chose it
and and explain why you were so pleased with it.
Then the examiner may ask:
Are you someone who likes shopping?
How to answer
- Use the minute to write key words for each point, not full sentences.
- Talk for the full two minutes. If you stop early, add a story or a feeling.
IELTS Speaking Practice Test 5 · Part 3
Part 3: a discussion
4 to 5 minutes.
Let's consider first of all shopping habits. Why do some people buy things that they don't really need?
How has online shopping changed town centres?
Do you think advertising has too much influence on what people buy?
Now let's talk about repairing and replacing things. When something breaks, should people repair it or replace it? Why?
Why do so many products seem to have a shorter life nowadays?
Should companies be responsible for recycling the products they sell?
How to answer
- Give your view, say why, and give an example.
- Talk about people in general, not only about yourself.
