IELTS Speaking Practice Test 11 · Part 1

Part 1: questions about you

4 to 5 minutes.

  • Let's talk about housework. Which household job do you dislike most?

  • Who usually does the cleaning in your home?

  • Did you help your parents around the house as you were growing up?

  • Would you pay someone to do your housework if you could afford it?

  • Now let's talk about names. Does your first name have a special meaning?

  • Who chose your name?

  • Which names are popular for babies in your country at the moment?

  • Let's move on to talk about smiling. Do you smile a lot?

  • Is it normal to smile at strangers where you live?

  • Are people who smile a lot always happy?

How to answer

  • Answer in two or three sentences: your answer, a reason and an example.
  • Speak naturally. Short answers like “Yes” are too short.

IELTS Speaking Practice Test 11 · Part 2

Part 2: talk about a topic

1 minute to prepare, then talk for 1 to 2 minutes.

Describe a person from history that you would like to meet.

You should say:

  • who the person was
  • what they are famous for
  • what you would ask them

and and explain why you would like to meet this person.

Then the examiner may ask:

  • Did you learn about this person at school?

How to answer

  • Use the minute to write key words for each point, not full sentences.
  • Talk for the full two minutes. If you stop early, add a story or a feeling.

IELTS Speaking Practice Test 11 · Part 3

Part 3: a discussion

4 to 5 minutes.

  • Let's consider first of all learning about history. Why do some young people find history lessons boring?

  • Is it more useful to study the history of your own country or the history of the world?

  • Can historical films and television series give people a false picture of the past?

  • Now let's talk about heroes. What qualities make someone a hero, in your opinion?

  • Are the people young people look up to today different from the heroes of the past?

  • Is it a good idea to name streets and buildings after famous people?

How to answer

  • Give your view, say why, and give an example.
  • Talk about people in general, not only about yourself.
