IELTS Speaking Practice Test 6 · Part 1
Part 1: questions about you
4 to 5 minutes.
Let's talk about your home. Who do you live with?
Which room do you spend the most time in?
Have you lived in many different homes?
Now let's talk about friends. How often do you see your friends?
Where do you and your friends usually meet up?
Would you rather have a few close friends or a large group of friends?
Are you still in touch with any friends from your schooldays?
Let's move on to talk about handwriting. Is your handwriting easy to read?
When did you last write something by hand?
Will people still write by hand in fifty years' time?
How to answer
- Answer in two or three sentences: your answer, a reason and an example.
- Speak naturally. Short answers like “Yes” are too short.
IELTS Speaking Practice Test 6 · Part 2
Part 2: talk about a topic
1 minute to prepare, then talk for 1 to 2 minutes.
Describe a live performance that you enjoyed watching.
You should say:
- what the performance was
- where you watched it
- who you went with
and and explain why you enjoyed it so much.
Then the examiner may ask:
Would you like to perform on stage yourself?
How to answer
- Use the minute to write key words for each point, not full sentences.
- Talk for the full two minutes. If you stop early, add a story or a feeling.
IELTS Speaking Practice Test 6 · Part 3
Part 3: a discussion
4 to 5 minutes.
Let's consider first of all live entertainment. Why do some people prefer live performances to recordings?
Should governments spend public money on theatres and concert halls?
What could be done to encourage young people to go to the theatre?
Now let's talk about performing in public. Why are so many people nervous about speaking or performing in front of others?
Is performing a skill that anyone can learn, or does it depend on natural talent?
How has social media changed the way that performers become well known?
How to answer
- Give your view, say why, and give an example.
- Talk about people in general, not only about yourself.
