Eastfield Household Recycling Centre

The recycling centre on Mill Lane is for the use of Eastfield residents only, and staff may ask to see proof of your address, such as a driving licence or a recent bill. From April to September, the centre is open from 8 am to 6 pm; for the rest of the year, it opens at 9 am and closes at 4 pm. It is closed on 25 and 26 December and on 1 January.

Booking a visit

Visits must now be booked in advance through the council website. Each booking gives you a 30-minute slot, and you may book up to two slots a week. If you arrive more than fifteen minutes after the start of your slot, you may be asked to rebook for another day. Bookings are not needed by cyclists or by anyone arriving on foot.

What you can bring

Most household waste can be left free of charge, including garden waste, cardboard, glass, metal, electrical items and furniture. To keep queues short, please separate your materials before you arrive. There is a charge for waste from building work, such as bricks, tiles and plasterboard: this is £4 per bag, or £10 for a larger item such as a bath or a door. Payment is by card only. The centre cannot accept tyres or gas bottles, but our website explains how to dispose of these safely.

Vans and trailers

Residents who wish to bring a van or a trailer must apply for a van permit, which is free and allows up to twelve visits a year. If you have hired a van, you will need a one-day permit instead, which must be printed out and shown on arrival. Waste from businesses is not accepted under any circumstances, even if it is brought in a private car.

The reuse shop

Items in good condition, such as bicycles, furniture and toys, can be left at the reuse shop near the entrance instead of being thrown away. Volunteers clean and repair them before they are sold at low prices. The shop is run by a local charity, and all the money it raises is spent on community projects in Eastfield.
